THE CLUB FOR ENTHUSIASTS OF ALL AMERICAN VEHICLES

Excellent condition inside and out and won Best in Show at the 2025 Rally of the Giants.

Restored comprehensively between 2005 and 2007 by Martin Stone, who imported the car from the US.  He spent £6000 on the chromework alone and he also resprayed the body and retrimmed the interior.

The 353c.i. engine was rebored with +040 pistons, and a new exhaust fitted. I have recently fitted a new pair of Odyssey 6 volt batteries to make starting easier when hot, and a cut out switch.

I'm selling because I have too many cars and this one needs a little TLC which I am unable to give it.  There is a front wheel shimmy issue, a water pump leak, fuel vaporisation, a broken speedo cable (head works fine), and some lighting gremlins.

Do come and view the car - it's a pretty impressive sight driving down the road!

Asking £32,000 Ono.

1931 Cadillac 355A Town Sedan

BETSY’S LIFE STORY

Buick Super (1952 Model 56c). 5.2 litre, straight 8 – “valve in head”

I have owned this car since September 1988.

She was produced almost 74 years ago, between April and June 1952. General Motors made approximately 2,500 of this model and, as far as we are aware, this is the only 1952 convertible in the UK; certainly the only yellow one.

She weighs just over two tons and is one of the last straight 8s ever made. The Dynaflow gearbox gives constant torque, which means that it doesn’t have to change gear from 0 to full speed. She has a power roof, windows, front seat and steering and is powered by hydraulics as opposed to electric motors. Incidentally, oil driven power roofs were introduced by Cadillac in the late 1930s. The electrics are 6 volts, but the old dynamo has been replaced with an alternator as it was possible to lose all the lights in traffic at night, if the radio and heater were on! The radio – which is original – runs on valves and, having been brought up on a diet of “how much is that doggie in the window”, would have, in 1955 at the age of 3, suddenly experienced the first rock and roll! It also has a modern 12 volt radio and auxiliary battery.

She was subject to a complete restoration in the US in 1979 and we had her shipped from Illinois in 1988 and the colour scheme, most of the mechanics and some of the upholstery panels, are original. The engine had never been rebored - until we damaged the engine in 1990, possibly from putting in too much oil - the gearbox has had a couple of rebuilds, she has been resprayed, re-wired, re-chromed and had a new roof and, mileage wise, the car is now on its way back from the moon!

Petrol consumption is 9mpg in town and 16mpg on a run. The longest run we have done was to the South of France in 1997, which went without a hitch.

She has featured in films, TV and premieres as well as celebrity jaunts and weddings. The car has been Classic Car magazine’s “page 3“ girl when she was listed as the “ideal wedding car”.

She is now reluctantly for sale.

1949 Ford   Fordor Custom

Due to an impending house-move I am selling my 1949 Ford, which requires a little TLC.

It is a Fordor Custom with a flat-head V8 engine. I purchased it in 2014 from a dealer in Minnesota, and arranged import to the UK.

I believe it was restored in the USA, probably 14 years ago, but I have no history on the vehicle before I purchased it.

The exterior has deteriorated over the years - especially the chrome on the grille and bumpers, but overall it is solid.

The interior was re-trimmed at the restoration and is still in very good condition.

It runs, drives and stops, but last year the bonnet flew open, and it is now warped and does not latch properly.

I am looking for around £5,000.

More photos are available on request.
